Dallas is the third-largest city in Texas and the ninth largest in the United States. It has a population of over 1.2 million and it is the main economic center of the 12-county Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area. The economy is based on banking, commerce, telecommunications, computer technology, energy, and transportation. Dallas also offers a thriving culinary scene, leading arts district, numerous hotels, professional sports, trendy entertainment districts and endless shopping.
